As Memorial Day approaches, we are reminded of the incredible sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have served in the United States military. Among these heroes is Captain Dennis Michael White, a proud member of the United States Air Force who specialized as a Weapons Systems Officer in the F-15E Strike Eagle during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
His daughter, Sarah White Duncan, is a mother of three boys today and has a deeper appreciation for her time with her children due to the loss of her heroic father at the young age of six. She fondly remembers her father as a towering figure with a contagious laugh, always ready to play and spend time with his children. Despite his demanding role in the military, Captain White cherished moments with his family, leaving behind precious memories that Sarah holds dear to her heart.
In addition to her father's service, Sarah's own journey has been deeply influenced by her connection to the military community. As a recipient of a Folds of Honor scholarship, she experienced firsthand the impact of this organization, which provides educational support to the families of fallen or disabled service members. Sarah's involvement with Folds of Honor has been instrumental in shaping her path, leading her to become a passionate advocate for military families in North Texas.
Recently, Sarah was deeply touched by a gesture of remembrance and honor from Petite Paloma. After months of back and forth designing the special Folds of Honor boot, they had announced to Sarah they would be naming the boot after her in honor of the sacrifice of her father and her family. The simplicity of the design, featuring shining stars reminiscent of the American flag, resonated deeply with Sarah. This boot would not only bear her name but also her father's call sign, "Superstar," in a tribute to his legacy.

For Sarah, Memorial Day holds profound significance, serving as a time to reflect on the true cost of freedom. While many may see it as a long weekend for leisure activities, Sarah recognizes it as a day to honor the selflessness and sacrifice of those who have given their lives in service to their country. Through her involvement with Folds of Honor and now, with the creation of the Sarah "Superstar" boot, she continues to carry on her father's legacy of service and sacrifice.
Central to Sarah's journey is her faith and her deep connection to God. She finds solace and strength in knowing that even in the face of loss and adversity, God remains faithful. Her faith has been a guiding light, providing comfort and hope as she navigates life's challenges. With each step she takes in this “Superstar” boot, she is reminded of God's goodness and His everlasting love that sustains her.
As Sarah reflects on her father's life and the impact he has had on her own journey, she is filled with gratitude for the time they shared and the lessons he imparted. His memory lives on not only in the design of the boot but also in Sarah's everyday actions and outlook on life. With every journey she takes in the Sarah Cowgirl boot, she honors his legacy and the countless others who have made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.
